MORE ABOUt the Founder Leila Nekbeen Entezam is the founder of Negeen The Jewel. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan and refuged to the United States with her immediate family in 1982 like thousands of others who were affected by the invasion of Afghanistan. Leila and her family came to the United States in pursuit of a safe and better life.
Shortly after attending college, Leila was married and expecting her first child. Negeen was born prematurely at approximately thirty two weeks of gestation. At first glance, Negeen although premature, appeared to be a healthy and normal baby. Negeen’s health and development rapidly declined at approximately eight months old. Leila started to notice that Negeen could no longer express herself through limited but learned language skills she had developed. Negeen developed epilepsy at the age of three, at the age of just five years old Negeen was plagued by numerous seizures and hospital visits. The seizures took a toll on Negeen’s health and wellness, along with taking away her ability to speak and communicate verbally. Leila, panicked and in pursuit of answers started to consult with a team of doctors who would later diagnosed Negeen with Autism, and severe mental retardation. Twenty five years after her diagnosis, Negeen is still thriving. Leila is her primary caretaker and loving mother. Negeen’s condition has deepened Leila’s compassion for all children with special needs and developmental delays. Thus, Negeen The Jewel was created for the purpose of widespread awareness and charitable donations for children, adults or any individuals with special needs. Thank you for visiting our website.
